Who do you think I am? Do I elude you from the cold and bitter truth? Tired and hungry, but you can't sleep when your broken mind won't rest. You've never known, of the hurt that I've worn through all these years. You'll never know, just what hurt is. You've never felt it.

So what'll it take? You wanna see the tears run down my face? And what'll it prove? Tell me, what is the use? Don't ever tell me I'm the same as you.

How do you think I am? Did it occur that there's more beneath this skin? Tired and hungry, but you can't eat when your trembling hands won't grip. You never asked where I come from. You'd never want to know. You never said it was easy, but you've never felt this.

Beat down, from all of the abuse. The physical, the mental too. The broken hearts and broken homes. The manic won't leave me alone. Condemn the color of my skin, and this place we can't afford to live. Wait for the welfare check to come, so we can make this water run. Can't stand to see my mother cry. She doesn't want this kind of life. Not for my brothers not for me, or any of my family. She comes at me in fits of rage, my father tenfold of the same. You see we come from the same town, but I just never made it out.
